Amazing Race All Stars April 29, 2007

The pneultimate episode of the Amazing Race All Stars and I can't wait. We will see if my prediction from last week's blog is right or not. To refresh people's memory I said that Charla and Mirna will be eliminated. As long as the BQs and Danny and Ozzy make it to the final three then I am happy.

Also on TV tonight, at the same time as AR, is Game 3 of Vancouver Canucks vs the Anaheim Ducks, so you will forgive me if this blog isn't as detailed as it can be as I will be flipping over to the game during commercial breaks to check on the score. Go Canucks!!!!

The detour choices were interesting. It was obvious that you would scrub the plane as the care package one did take too much time but the airplane ride looked cool.

So yeah by Beauty Queens are in the top 3. I just need Oswald to find that pilot, get to the landing then get to the pit stop ASAP and at least have a 30 minute cushion.

The roadblock was a bit blah but exciting once they got to the landing area.

Ok so I was wrong. Charla and Mirna are racing for the million. Oh well. But I am so sad that Oswald and Danny are gone. I loved them so but now it's on and I want Dustin and Kandice to win. They play the game so well.

Next is another hour season finale. I am not going to be in town to watch it so I am getting someone to tape it for me and will watch it when I am back in town so I probably won't be writing a blog for it. But, I hope when I watch it that I will see the Beauty Queens crowned the winners of the Amazing Race.

And Go Canucks.

Amazing Race All Stars April 22, 2007

So this promises to be a good episode according to the previews from last week and John Vito and Jill when they were on the Finish Line last week. Looking forward to seeing if this is true. If it goes in my beauty queens and Danny and Ozzy favour then I am down with that.

When I heard two teams got together to yield someone, I never thought it would be the BQs and Danny and Ozzy so who knew when I typed the above it would be just that. And I agree that yield is a tool to be used in the game. You do whatever it takes to win and the yield is what it takes.

But that road block was awesome. So would want to do but if Justin wants to do it, since I already sky dived and zip lined, he can have that adrenaline rush but I would be afraid initially to drop over 600 feet. It is scary since you are relying pretty much on an elastic band to make sure you make it down. Kudos to Charla for doing it.

That noodle detour was so funny the way the teams were bouncing on that bamboo stick. I laughed everytime I saw a team. Now I am worried about Danny and Ozzy that was or could be a bad detour choice as I am not at the end of the episode yet. And Eric and Danielle are catching up but here's hoping that the BQs come in first so that Eric and Danielle still have that 30 minute penalty but we will just have to wait and see.

Those Mini Motes are cute but I can understand that they can be difficult to drive. I am not good a driving a stick so I think we would be like Charla and Mirna.

Phew! Glad that it is another non-elim so that Danny and Ozzy are still in it. And if I were to base what I saw from the teams at the end. I think that Charla and Mirna will be eliminated next week. Why? Because out all the clips of the teams during their interviews, theirs looks like one that was filmed at the Pit Stop in Malaysia and the rest looked like they were at new places. See if I am right.

Until next week!
Like I said as long as Danny and Ozzy/BQs are in it then I am happy.

Amazing Race All Stars April 15, 2007

I am scared for my Beauty Queens. I hate how the editing is making us think that the BQ's are going all this talk about karme biting them. I hope that is not the case because I think that they are playing the game and yielding is part of it. On their original race they yielded 'Bama and it bit them back so let's up it doesn't happen twice.

Flights again seems to be playing a big role again. I really hope that the BQs make it on and get to Hong Kong, a place I've always wanted to visit.

The fast forward was fun and I would totally do it and Ozzy and Danny are entitled to go for it despite them going for the other one with Uchenna and Joyce. The last race David and Mary could have done two fast forwards because of the intersection rule

And if I could have read Chinese maybe lost in translation would have been good but Kung Fu Fighting is the one I would have chosen as it is fun and something you normally could do. If I wanted to be lost in translation I'll just go to Chinatown here in Toronto. But it didn't seem to challenging the kung fu fightening, I thought maybe those fighters would be bugging you as you climb but they didn't seem to bother anybody but it was funny seeing Dustin and Mirna doing karate moves when it was unnecessary.

How cool was that road block? A great way to let off steam and frustration by kicking down doors.

I know this is a non-elimination, so who will get the 30 minute penalty? I think it still will be Eric and Danielle even with the editing. And there should be no more fast forwards so next will be interesting.

So Eric and Danielle are marked for elimination. You never know what is going to happen next week but one thing I am glad is that the BQs didn't come in last so they aren't marked for elimination.

According to next week a yield but what is interesting when they said two surprising teams team up to yield another. Makes you think. We know the BQ's can't use their yield and it wouldn't be a surprise if the other teams gang up to yield the BQs so my guess that it isn't them that get yielded. But we will see because, I hope it isn't them because it puts them out 30 minutes and may get them eliminated if Eric and Danielle catch-up. Damn those producers figuring out a way to giving Eric and Danielle a way to come back!

We are almost near the end!!!!!

Until next week!!! Go Canucks Go!!!!!!!!!

Amazing Race All Stars April 8, 2007

Happy Easter all!!!!

We are down to five teams. And it is so interesting how flights have played a significant role in team placement this year. Charla and Mirna again look like genuises with flights. Uchenna and Joyce took a gamble so we will see if it pays off. I hope it does and I hope that Danny and Ozzy and the Beauty Queens make it too. But there has to be an equalizer somewhere along the race so that the Cousins don't have another huge lead.

So Uchenna and Joyce are going to get eliminated because of that missed flight, which is too bad.

As for the yield, I don't like all the name calling for Dustin and Kandice. It is a game and they had to yield somebody. I am sure Eric and Danielle would have yielded them. Think of being yielded as a compliment,

The detour is interesting. We will see who finishes first before we know which is the better choice. I didn't quite hear how many licorice centres were in the cookies but 600 boxes!!! It is a needle in a haystack task and maybe artistic impression is the better choice.

So artistic impression was the better choice. Despite the yield and what the other teams have said about them, I still love Dustin and Kandice and so glad that they came in #1. I hope they make it to the final three. But my dream final three of Danny and Ozzy, Dustin and Kandice and Uchenna and Joyce may not happen unless it is a non-elimination.

The key to the roadblock and Kandice and Mirna got it right was to get too much. My goodness the people of Kaula Lampur sure love to hold on to their papers. Did you see that one house that Mirna went into? It was almost as tall as me!!!

So Uchenna and Joyce are gone. I am sad but they did win before so it is ok that they went not thrilled just ok. I still want Charla and Mirna to be gone and Eric and Danielle. Between those two, I think I rather have Eric and Danielle in as they are less annoying but Charla and Mirna in the top 3 would be nice as it would be the first time two all-female teams race in the finals (if the Beauty Queens are part of that). Season is getting interesting.

Until Next Week.

Go Canucks Go!!!!!!

Amazing Race All Stars April 1, 2007

Happy April Fools Day! And on this special day we get a 2 hour Amazing Race spectactular.

Live blogging again. So let's see if this episode will be a joke and Charla and Mirna continue to dominate or the stars align again and they get eliminated.

Now that Teri and Ian are gone, I really want Dustin and Kandice and Ozzy and Danny to win. Wouldn't mind Uchenna and Joyce to be part of the top 3. The other teams can go.

Now since it is two hours you know it is a double leg.

Another interesting flight situation. Glad that Dustin and Kandice are free and clear. And seven hours in a travel agency, that is one slow agent!!!!! But it is interesting that the Guidos and Eric and Danielle can't get on the flight that was provided for them but the connection was tight.

The detour. I would have chosen "Perfect Pitch" because as a piano player I know that I could do this task and Dustin and Kandice did it very well. I think it helped that Dustin had that background. And do think that just before commercials, Charla and Mirna had it but it looks like they are going to switch up with Danny and Ozzy. It is all about not pulling too tight at to not break the string,

And I was wrong, it wasn't a double leg. Once the clue said check in at the pit stop and saw the the greeter then you know it wasn't but it might still be as the second hour could kick off the double leg.

Glad that Dustin and Kandice came in number one. They are my team that I want to win. I really just hope that it isn't a non-elimination. I am ready for the Guidos or Eric and Danielle to go. For the CTV contest, I guessed that they would come in first and I was right but does that mean they have to come in first for the next hour in order for me to win?

Uchenna and Joyce came in third despite their flight problems and I think it is weird to have one team start the next leg while two teams haven't finished the previous one. I am curious to see if it is an elimination or not.

It is incredible that the teams are so spread out. I mean the Beauty Queens are starting the leg at 10:54pm and I guess this is where the Guidos and Eric and Danielle are at.

But I think it is going to be a sobering experience going to Aushwitz. I felt quite emotional when I visited the National Holocaust Musuem in Washington, DC. It will be sad indeed to actually visit a site of such human horror.

Now back to the race. With the bus leaving at 1pm, this gives Ozzy and Danny, Uchenna and Joyce and Charla and Mirna to catch-up.

So it was a non-elimination. It actually pisses me off that it is. I want the Guidos gone. I never liked them in AR1. We will see if they can catch up and not get elminated. There has to be an equalizer somewhere that will make this all moot.

The moment at Aushwitz was emotional. I really cried, Glad that they didn't make them search for clues there.

But now the Intersection, as my brother said bloody brilliant. It is, but sucks for Dustin and Kandice the team I am rooting for the most. We will see who they end up teaming up with. Let's hope that it's not Joe and Bill. But glad that The Guidos aren't get Fast Forward. The Fast Forward looks straightforward.

So happy that Danny and Ozzy and Uchenna and Joyce came in number one. They are such great teams that have fun and work well together.

Now the detour. Too bad that the Beauty Queens are stuck with Charla and Mirna but they had too. And it is a good thing they chose "Eat It" which was what I would have chosen. Even though I have recently attempted to be a vegetarian for my health, I would be willing to eat meat and damn my cholesterol for a million dollars. I can eat two feet of sausage. I am that hungry. Plus, Kandice did a sausage road block in AR10 so this was perfect for them. Here is really hoping that the Guidos are so lost with Eric and Danielle that my Beauty Queens don't get eliminated.

Bad break that Charla had a hard time eating the meat while the others had no problem but I really want Charla and Mirna gone. Her shrieking is getting on my nerves. I rather have them gone than the Guidos because I will say it, at least they are not as annoying and actually I'll admit they are better here than they were in AR1.

But glad Dustin and Kandice broke free and are so far in third. Hope that holds up.

Yeah, Dustin and Kandice came in third and it was a cool road block to be in a suit of armour. But darn it to heck that shrieky McSkriekerson Mirna is still in it. When are they going to go away? The Guidos are gone, which is good. Next has to be Eric and Danielle or Charla and Mirna. Then I am happy with the Top 3. There will be an equializer next week that will bunch them up.

Amazing Race All Stars March 25, 2007

Live blogging the episode again.

Well, it looks like Charla and Mirna are genuises with the flights. We just have to wait and see if there is an equilizer. As for the rest of the teams, who knew that Dar es Saleem (sorry if this is the wrong spelling) is very popular destination! But glad that Dustin and Kandace and Ozzy and Danny got on. Pissed that Teri and Ian didn't. Don't quite understand why Eric and Danielle were given tickets when they were supposed to but as I am indifferent towards that team we will see if this will help Uchenna and Joyce not get eliminated and not get Teri and Ian eliminated.

So Teri and Ian and the Guidos still didn't make the next day fight. They can't get a break. I really need tTeri and Ian to make it and not come in last. But the ferry ride looked lovely.

The detour was an interesting choice. My initial thought was to do the logs as it was just two logs and you could find people to tell you where the shipyard was. My thought with the puzzle was that the pieces could go in any direction but after looking at people do the puzzle it was obvious that each piece went only in one way so the puzzle was the way to go.

And I like any challenge where you can use a weapon and since I did some archery in the past and even got a bullseye in one my archery things, I would love to do this road block.

And I thought it was so funny that Charla and Mirna had no idea that they won a boat, too funny. I never thought that they would come in #1 again but they lucked out with the flights. glad that Ozzy and Danny came in second and soon will see Dustin and Kandice check-in. Just got to see if Uchenna and Joyce gets eliminated or the Guidos or Teri and Ian

I know editing likes to play tricks on you but I was so hoping that Teri and Ian could pull it off but yet I knew that was not the case.

I really wished that Teri and Ian weren't eliminited. I grew to admire them so much during AR3 (their season where they came in 2nd) so I really wanted them to win but as I said before the team I am really rooting for is Dustin and Kandice, I want them to win because an all-female team has never won and I want them to win but wouldn't mind that Ozzy and Danny win too.

Glad that there also wasn't a fast forward to help Uchenna and Joyce and because of the whole flight situation the 30 minute penalty didn't hurt them at all.

Next week is 2 hours and it looks like Splitsville for Eric and Danielle and how cool is it to waer a suite of armor, wonder where that is, England maybe? It is about time that they get out of hot climates into cold ones.

Well, looking forward to next week and it is April Fool's

Cheers.

Amazing Race All Stars March 18, 2007

The first race without any of the racers having to worry about Romber. Let's see what happens when no one has to worry about what is happening to the two reality show whores!

Just a brief mention of Romber, which is fine. At this moment of the race, I am not too worried for my Ozzy and Danny. They may be in last place trying to find their clue in the snow but I think an equilazer is on its way. And it was stupid of the blondes to miss their avalanche gear. They really have to play better.

What a interesting road block. The rats were huge but cute and their purpose was interesting. Who knew that rats could be trained to sniff out landmines. For my team, it really doesn't matter who does it, it all comes down to whether or not you like rats or not. And since I thought they were cute, I guess I would have done it.

The detour pamper or porter. If the racers knew that men would be successful in the pampering then they would have gone for it. It would seem obvious to for porter but my gut told me to go for pamper because of the fact that you have to fill 10 bags of coal, which not only it looked like it hurt to fill but had to sew up all ten bags then take one, it just made more sense to do pamper.

And I can't believe that Charla and Mirna were number one. But glad the teams that I love the most came in 2,3 and 4: Dustin and Kandice, Teri and Ian, and Ozzy and Danny.

Glad that Uchenna and Joyce were not eliminated but are marked for elimination for the next leg. But I have this feeling that there is going to be a fast forward on it. But the previews would indicate that there is none or that another team took it to stick it to them.

Until next week

Amazing Race All Stars March 11, 2007

Sorry for not blogging last week. I was tired from live blogging the Oscars the week before!!!

If there is one thing that I am sure of over the last two episodes is that I am so over Charla and Mirna. I liked them in season 5 but this season they are so shrilly, whiny and annoying and put on some fake accent while in a pressure situation.

I want them out soon and I hate to say it but I don't think they will win it all because of Charla. She is a detriment to her team because of her size. Mirna was right in saying that she does all the work but I don't feel sorry for them one bit. The way they appear on TV is just annoying to me.

So when I saw the detour, my gut told me to go for navigate it. It was the right choice as teams struggled with "Sign it"and it is spelled "Philipines" Rob not "Phillipeans"

I am live blogging as I see this episode so we are at the road block, which anyone can do no matter who is on the team and I love that other teams from their season wrote them a letter, it gives us a chance to "hear" from them

Since the previews promised that this was going to be a finish that we will all be talking about I have a feeling that at 8:47pm that Rob and Amber will be eliminated, this is not knowing anything no spoilers or anything, If any other team but them got eliminated it would be whatever but I just got this feeling. Let's see if I am right.

As long as Dustin and Kandice don't get eliminated I am happy since Teri and Ian and Ozzy and Danny have already clocked in.

8:57pm Ding dong Rob and Amber are gone!!! Yeah!!!! I would've have been pissed if it was a non-elimination round but it wasn't so yeah. I was right

Next week should be interesting now that the main competition is gone so let the real race begin.

Cheers

Amazing Race: All Stars February 18th

Happy Chinese New Year all in this year of the pig.

And what a way to start the new year with the Amazing Race: All Stars. When I heard there was going to be an All Star edition, I was excited looking forward to seeing what teams are going to be in it from its over 10 seasons. The one team I was looking forward to was the Bowling Moms. I was really disappointed to learn that they didn't make the cut.

But here are the teams that I am rooting for that did make the cut:
1. Dustin and Kandace: The strongest and most competitive all-female team I've ever seen on the race
2. Oswald and Danny: Loved them in season 2
3. Teri and Ian: Book it Teri! Loved them in Season 3
4. Kevin and Drew: Best part of season 1
5. Uchenna and Joyce. Good karma should still be on their side
6. Charla and Mirna: Still rooting for Charla, want her to succeed

Teams I am not rooting for: Rob and Amber -can't stand them., Their 15 minutes of fame should be over by now.
Joe and Bill: Never liked team Guido and still don't

The other teams I am indifferent towards.

So of course Romber would come in first. Typical. But glad that Ozzy and Danny came in second followed by Teri and Ian and sorry Justin, Ian didn't say book it!

Glad that my beauty queens came in sixth and got a little worried for Charla and Mirna but glad they tied for 8th with Kentucky, who I predicted would come in last because of their lies to the Beauty Queens thought karma would bite them in the butt.

Was really worried for Kevin and Drew but so happy that they overcame injury and a flat tire to come in 2nd to last.

As for John Vito and Jill, was indifferent towards them but a little sad to see them go because I kinda wanted to see if they did get back together, guess I'll find out when i watch the Finish Line tomorrow. But, it was their fault for driving to the wrong entrance. You know when Phil emphasizes something it is going to bite one or two teams as it did JV and Jill and the cousins.

As for the tasks, of course you do wrangle it, you got the guys to wrangle the horse for you. Never chose a needle in a haystack clue, what made Romber think it was better is beyond me. Maybe that can be their downfall chosing wrong detours.

It may look like next week the Intersection comes back as it does look like the cousins have to work with the Beauty Queens.

The race is just getting started and more excitement is bound to happen. As long as my top 6 teams are still in the running, I will be happy.

Until next week.

Amazing Race 10 -December 3, 2006

Well folks we are in the homestretch and next Sunday is the season finale and who expected the final three to include the Bama's. I mean it was expected to have the models and the couple in most need of therapy in there but the Blondes should have been there. It was obvious that they were eliminated when everyone was bunched together to get to the pit stop.

I really think it was unfair how everyone wanted to gang up on them to get them out but I understand why they wanted them out because they were a very strong team. I really think it sucks that they are not racing for the million; they really deserve too. Dustin and Kandice are the strongest all-female team I have ever seen in the Amazing Race and I hope they get to be in the All-star edition that will be rumoured to be the next race.

Anyways, the episode the was interesting. The road block was awesome and I totally would have done it but the way it looked, I thought I would have to cook and eat a camel head - that I don't think I could do. In the end, it was just grinding camel meat to make sausages. It looked good and all the teams said it smelled and tasted good.

Then it was off to Barcelona, a very pretty city and the pit stop looked gorgeous. It looked like the Blondes really were going to come in first but the equalizer was the airport then the maze not opening up until the morning. Then most of the teams got lost in the maze then getting out. Except for Bama who calmly found there way out and I am glad that the Blondes praised Bama for being calm as being a smart way to play. But I wish Karlyn would stop being such a sourpuss, she always looks so pissed off in the team confessionals, in the car, during road blocks and detours. I mean I am glad that they are the first all-female team in the final but Karyln could be their downfall. But more on that later.

As for the detours, I wouldn't do a needle in a haystack choice so I was surprised that Rob and Kimberly and the Bama's chose that one but it was hilarious to see Kim get pummelled by the tomatoes and Rob throwing it at the locals, it was like a snowball fight. I wish Karlyn would have thrown some to let off some frustration.

But I don't know which one I would have chose. I am fairly short so having to carry a giant would have been daunting. But I would have been the smarter task as long as you knew where to go in terms of the square.

So now my thoughts on the final three:

Tyler and James: A strong team and they will probably will win since all-male teams that are young and physical (sorry Ken and Gerard from AR3 -the only other all-male team in a final not to win) usually win. Their downfall could be that they have poor navigational skills and sometimes don't think before heading off to a route marker or doing a task. But, I think they are also a bit arrogant in thinking that they will because Bama is in the final three and they are not as physical as them. Which brings me to:

Lyn and Karlyn: Yes, they are not physical and that could be their downfall but since leaving the six pack, they've come in 2nd place. They are smart and calmer but Karlyn could be their downfall with her negativity. I mean I want an all-female team to win but does it have to be them. I really wanted Kandice and Dustin. If anything, I want Lyn to win. She is a saint and patient to put up with Karlyn. I think this is the first time that I want one person in a team and not the other since Flo and Zach from AR3 -we all remember them don't we!

Rob and Kimberly: My brother said last night that Kim looked like the Wicked Witch of the East (aka Elphaba - if you've seen or read Wicked then you'll know what I mean) and I agree. I really don't want them to win. Their arguing gets on my nerves and it really bothers me that he calls Kim, the woman he wants to marry, "dude" and Rob's beard is crazy annoying. The way they behave in stressful situations will be their downfall and their poor navigational skills and poor communication skills might prevent them from winning the million.

My prediction on who will win: Tyler and James
Who I want to win: The Blondes. Just kidding: Lyn (and I guess Karlyn)

Looking forward to next week.

Amazing Race 10 -November 26, 2006

An anti-climatic start to the show. Sometimes it doesn't pay to have locals help as in the case of the blondes. The Bama girls really studied that map well and got to the antiques shop fairly quickly and it did annoy me that the rest of the teams underestimated them.

But what I don't understand is that if you want the Blondes gone then why didn't the models and Rob and Kim yield them, that made way more sense to do. I understand why the Blondes yielded Bama so that they can get some distance from the last place team.

As for that Roadblock - I would like to be a Gladiator please!!!! That looked like so much fun. I would have had a blast doing that.

Again the yield did nothing and the Bama girls pulled ahead of the blondes. I really want the blondes to win. I want an all-female team to win and they are the best bet. No offence to Bama but they are not as strong as the blondes but the blondes made many directional mistakes on this leg of the race. But I am glad that it was a non-elimination. I know that they can come in first next week. They are a strong team and again I really want them to win.

I would have chosen the olives for the detour as the pots would have been hard to do. I am not very artistic so it would have been a disaster.

Only two more weeks until we crown the winner of Amazing Race 10 then it is on to the All-Star edition. I really don't care who is part of it as long as the Bowling Moms are there because they never got a fair shake and with the rule changes it makes the game more fair for them and it was because of what happened to them in Amazing Race 5 is why all the rule changes happened.

Anyways, here's hoping that the Blondes come in first next week.

Cheers

Amazing Race 10 -November 19, 2006

I thought it was funny that people wanted tickets to Cherylnoble and the ticket person was so confused but all the teams figured it was Kiev.

The roadblock was cool, it looked like so much fun but I think the whole line about who wants to take command or something like that would have suited by brother so he would have done that road block.

Again the Chos waited, time to wake up and smell the coffee this is a race not a vacation. I am sick of them waiting all the time. I am agree with Karlyn, the Chos stop too much and I know they want to be sure but still. The moms needed to break away.

The detour is difficult choice. Finding the music then the piano player could be a needle in a haystack type of task and writing the music can be difficult but since my brother and I are both writers I guess make the music would be a better choice to go for even though I might not be able to performance due to stage fright. After seeing the teams perform I still don't think I could do it, I would die of embarrassment.

Anyways, I am glad the Chos are gone. As cute as they are, they were way too annoying with them wanting to run the race with integrity and wanting to keep friendships, its a bloody race and you really have to do everything that it takes to win and the friends you make on the race will understand why you have to break an alliance. The Chos were really annoying me and am so glad that they are gone.

Now I am cheering for the Blondes!!!!! Go Dustin and Kandice!!!!

Amazing Race 10 -November 12, 2006

I could tell that this episode was going to be a good one. Now, I didn't watch it when it was on here at 8PM ET as I decided to watch instead a BBC period drama as it was the only time that show was going to be on, so I decided to time shift it and watch the western feed at 11pm. But when my brother called around 8:44pm I knew it had to be about the race but I had to tell him that I wasn't watching it but will at 11pm.

Anyways,

The messages from home were a bit lame -sorry if I sound a bit heartless but really no one got that emotional about it except for Bama. As for the taxis, I would have waited in the queue like the Chos or asked like Rob and Kimberly if it was ok to take the cab before anyone else instead of jump the queue like Bama. Interesting to see how karma will bite them in the ass or reward the Chos for being nice.

The detour: Swamp this or that?

I wouldn't have chosen the cross-country skiing one because I twisted my ankle while cross-country skiing so the image of me doing it again remain so I would never have picked that one plus it didn't make sense as you wasted time in taking them on and off to jump over the obstacles. I would have done the other one and carried my brother!!!!!! And I agree with the blondes, I would have changed on the train and not wasted time changing at the detour, sure you don't want to get the cab dirty but it is a race.

So my brother called me about Rob and Kimberly driving in circles? Not an overwhelmingly interesting twist. I expected something else.

As for the roadblock, I probably woudn't do this one because it is not that I am claustrophobic but I fear that the air in the mine plus the uphill ride/walk with the bike and limestone would trigger an asthma attack, something I rather not experience on the race and national TV.

And how did I know that this was a double-leg. There was one coming and here we are. But that was cool rappelling face first!!! And you know what I was surprised with that Nokia didn't do some sort of product placement since Nokia is headquartered in this country.

So it looks like next week that the Chos have woken up and smelt the coffee about their "alliance" with Bama. Hopefully, they will race hard and actually win this thing.

Cheers.

Amazing Race 10 -November 5, 2006

Last week I had technical difficulties posting my blog but briefly I think the Chos have to stop thinking about keeping their alliance in tact. This is a race and not Survivor.

Ok, the intersection is an interesting twist. I like it

The Fast Forward again after a non-elimination but at least this time David and Mary can't use it so they will have the 30 minute penalty no matter what. Eating cow lips doesn't seem so bad, I mean it is beef and I like beef but when Kim said it still had the hair and teeth on it, then maybe not so much.

It was a no brainer the Chos would end up working with the Beauty Queens as no one else didn't want to work with them and I would have chosen Long Sleep as it seemed the easiest and the Chos and the Beauty Queens rocked that task. I never like the idea of doing an intricate task and the other detour option seemed that way.

After the Chos completed the detour, I was surprised that they didn't wait for Alabama and Kentucky but I am glad that they didn't

And the road block was relatively simple and I don't teams yelling who has this stamp was the way to do it, you had to visit each stall and look for the right stamp, that was the only way to quickly do it instead of going up and down hoping that someone will them they have the stamp that they desire.

I love it that the Fast Forward teams think they are golden when they were being overlapped by some of the teams. I think this is the first time in a while that someone who has won the fast forward didn't come in first.

And what is up with the cabs in Madgascar, do all them always run low on gas!!!!

Too bad that David and Mary were eliminated, they were entertaining but you knew that they were goners. I mean there was no way that they could have gone for the fast forward with Bama, as Mary suggested, because they wouldn't have been eligible even though Bama didn't use their fast forward yet.

Anyways, still glad the Chos are in it but now they really need to break free from the alliance knowing that the single moms are independent minded.

Until next week!!

Amazing Race 10 -October 22, 2006

The question on everyone's minds tonight is can David and Mary come in first and avoid the 30 minute penalty? But more on that later.

I am annoyed with the Cho brothers. I admire them that they want to play the game with integrity but this isn't Survivor. This is a bloody race and you really need to think of yourself first. They either should have gone for the Fast Forward instead of letting David and Mary get it or stay up there and wait to do the road block. If I was in last place, I would have gone for the Fast Forward, it actually looked pretty exciting to do.

As for the roadblock I would do it. I am not afraid of heights and I am glad to see Kimberly do a road block, since she pretty much has to do and Mary would have done it if they didn't go for the fast forward. Which by the way, it was very convenient for the Fast Forward to be on a leg where Mary and David has to come in first. So of course they win it and come in first.

The detour was interesting and I totally would have done automatic because it was something different and looked kinda of cool. But it looked to hard to get to and the whole manual thing wasn't too bad and it did look faster as trying to attach the jockey to the camel could be difficult especially since the camel for the single moms was giving them attitude.

I am glad that the Cbo brothers came in 5th and I am also glad that Peter and Sarah got eliminated. Big surprise that they are not going to be dating anymore, not!!!! He was too annoying and in a sense she played the victim too much in her confessionals with her woes is me that I have a sucky unsupportive to partner.

Until next week!!!

Amazing Race 10 -October 15, 2006

How did I know that when the Cho brothers played that fake cellphone trick that it was sorta going backfire on them. I knew that Peter would find someone with a cellphone to book reservations too. But, in the end the Cho brothers got a better flight than most teams that is until Peter and Sarah and the beauty queens nabbed an earlier morning flight. I have to say Peter is annoying me in the way he talks about people behind their backs (didn't enjoy his mocking for David and Mary) and his whole sneaky way of finding information, it was so smarmy.

And I thought it was very annoying the way Peter was chewing on that cookie - chew with your mouth close man!!!! Anyways, as for the Detour: Wild Things or Wild Rice, it was obvious what the choice would be , Wild Things -yes it was scary but the crocodiles/alligator was cute with the rubber band around his snout and it seemed easier with the wranglers pretty much doing the hard part - wrestling the beast to ground for us. I don't know why people would choose Wild Rice, it took way too long.

As for the Roadblock, I guess I would have to do it because I am the only one on our team that knows how to drive a stick but that traffic in India makes me nervous. I mean I learned how to drive stick for a family trip to France but I bailed out of doing any driving because European traffic freaked me out but it looked like the driving instructor helped out and was pretty lenient with mistakes made.

Now for the interesting twist, while in past races in a non-elimination where all your money and possessions were taken away never hindered teams, I like this new twist of being marked for elimination. It makes the team have to come in first or they will get a 30 minute penalty and still get eliminated. Will see if Dave and Mary can do it but I think Dave has done all the roadblocks and if that rule still exists where only each team member can perform 6 roadblocks each then Mary has to do the rest of them if they are not eliminated next week. Same goes for Peter and Sarah, Peter has been doing most of them so far so she has to start doing some.

Anyways, until next week

Amazing Race 10 -October 8, 2006

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!!

I thought it was funny that Kandice and Dustin, who proclaim that they are auditory, thought that the cricket noise was their clue. I laughed out loud. It was an interesting way to get a clue and I thought it was smart of some teams to get their cabbie to listen to the clue but it was important that the cabbie understood English.

So the teams eventually made it to their destination and the faced the road block. This one is all my brother's. He has upper arm strength (after all the gym visits he's been doing in the past) so I would have slowed our team down.

I was busy cooking my turkey dinner so I didn't really get a chance to see how the teams didn't but it seemed that none really had a problem.

But most teams seemed to have the problem when it comes to rowing to do the detour: over or under. Again I was busy cooking so I didn't get a chance to see which looked like the lesser of two evils but the rowing seemed to be a major challenge for all teams because of the wind. But it seemed that once you found the basket line in under that seemed to be the better choice.

Ok how stupid that the beauty queens think they have to row to the pit stop. If they think they are trying to dispell the myth that blondes aren't stupid, they are really not doing a good job.

And I can't believe, either Tom or Terry actually pulled the boat to the junk ship!!!! And after all that, they still got eliminated. I had not feeling towards this team so either way I am ok that they are good but too bad after all that effort they were booted. But to be honest, I was glad the beauty queens didn't get eliminated, sure they are a bit cutthroat (like cutting in line or taking the single moms boat) and they are not that smart but I would like to see an all-female team win. It is about time that happens, so as long as they are still in and the single moms, I am all for it. But of course I still want the Cho bros to win too.

Enjoy your turkey everyone and see ya next week.

The Amazing Race 10 -October 1st, 2006

Paying respect to Vietnam

You will have to pardon this week's post. I am recovering from a massive allergy attack yesterday that drained me of energy so this post might be short and no peppy.
Zero dollars for the leg of the race and you cannot beg or sell anything. Interesting as some teams didn't seem that good with saving their money.

Now I am all for Duke and Lauren wanting to use a local to help them but picking them up at the airport let alone their flight to help isn't good. They have got have known that she wanted to be dropped of first, she doesn't care that you are on a race (I am told you can't tell people you are on the Amazing Race to get help).

The road block? Well I thought I would be the one doing it since, my brother doesn't like that kind of situation and crowds but seeing how the women were fawning over the guys, I think he would have been better suited than me.

I appreciate Dave's sentiments about Vietnam. I that's it great what he said about experiencing Vietnam differently than his father but still his head should be in the race.
The detour: Fuel or Fowl?

Fuel. It looked easier to do. And Yeah my hot Korean brothers are number one!!!!!
I knew once Phil said you can't ride a motorbike in Vietnam and that you saw Tom and Terry do that you knew they would be penalized. So fromk 2 to 8. That really sucks for them but goes to show you that you need to read your clues carefully.

And too bad for Duke and Lauren. Hopefully, Duke can be understanding of Lauren and not be disappointed in her she because she is gay but I can't say I will miss them. Too many mistakes and they were not careful with their money.
Until next week!

The Amazing Race 10 - September 24th, 2006

Brokeback Mountain

I am reminded of a scene in AR7 when Rob and Amber didn't stop when the brothers truck flipped over. The single moms did the same thing. I understand that it is a competition but I think they could have stopped and given them their jack! But as they said it is a competition but still human compassion would have been nice.

And I am getting a little tired over Sarah using her prosthetic leg to gain sympathy, it is like Charla in AR5 using her short stature to gain sympathy and none of the teams liked it then.
Anyways, some of the horses seem to have a mind of their own and that one Mongolian animal that Peter and Sarah had was crazy.

The Detour: Tear it down or Fill it Up?
Me? I would have chosen fill it up. I think that I and my brother might be able to control an animal. I think I would find Tear it down to be frustrating if I couldn't get it right but I think that my brother might do this one because he is very detailed oriented but who knows, it is a toss up but my gut told me to fill it up.

Bad luck with the cars, especially with my Korean brothers but thankfully they got they car started but it dropped them from 4th to 8th.

The Road Block: Me me me me

I wanna do this one. I love archery, I did it for my birthday a few years ago and I did it when I was in Nottingham so I would have been the natural choice for it. Would I have gotten the target the first try no, but it would have been cool trying.

I am getting tired for the arguing team so I want Rob and Kimberly to go. But too bad about the cheerleaders, I wouldn't mind an all-female team to win it alll so now it is down to the Beauty queens and the single moms.Until next week

The Amazing Race 10 -September 17th, 2006

A new season with new surprises

Another season of the Amazing Race has begun and I am so excited. It is my favourite TV show on right now and I love it so much. And I was so stoked to see the Race start in Seattle, a city so close to my hometown of Richmond, BC. AND the fact that the first destination is Beijing, China (my motherland -unlike the HOT looking Korean brothers -I lol when I heard that comment). I like the fact, like Survivor, this is a very diverse race this season.

Usually when I do my Amazing Race Rant with some friends and family, I always view it as what would my partner (which would be my younger brother) and I would do.

So the roadblock. In past seasons, my brother and I agreed that I would always do the eating challenges because a) I like to eat and b) the fact that I've been on a diet so long that I would be starving. Anyways, eating fish eyes, yes not uncommon in my culture and my father eats them all the tims. I haven't personally done it but if he can do it so can I, plus not many of the teams looked disgusted at the prospect of eating them unlike the grasshoppers in AR 9 that BJ and Tyler had to eat to get the fast forward. The only problems most teams had was just using the chopsticks.

Phil said at the beginning of the race that there would be surprises in the race and the first one came tonight. When one of the teams mentioned that a person might get eliminated at the Forbidden City even though it wasn't a pit stop, I had a feeling that it was the first surprise. I think its a good thing as it creates a sense of urgency all the time and not take anything for granted. When I saw who could have been potentially have been eliminated, I didn't want any of the teams to go. So it was sad that it was friends Bilal and Sa'eed. They seemed like good guys. But at least it wasn't the hot brothers. Makes me wonder what the other surprises are in the race.

The detour: Labour or Leisure? Labour for sure. My brother knows it and I know it that I am the most uncoordinated person in the world. Plus when Phil was describing the detour and how we have to follow a pattern, I noticed right off the bat that there was a grey/black border before the clay coloured can be put in. So it pays to be an observant person!!!!

The race to the pit stop. No longer about a foot race which is an interesting twist as some of the teams who arrived at the wall didn't necesarrily mean that is how they are going to finish. Liked this fact.

Also loved how the teams attempted to speak Mandarin.

Let's breakdown the teams and its performance so far from last to first:

Bilal and Sa'eed: Getting eliminated at the mid-point of leg one is no fun at all. I think it always comes down to luck and they got a slow cab driver who also didn't know where he was going.

Vital and Arti: These two are a cute couple. It sucks that they came in last. But I did like Vital's tip on how to climb the wall better.

The coalminer and his wife (sounds like lyrics to a TV show theme song): Dave sounded like Cletis from the Simpsons. Hey that's what I thought when I heard him. I think the fact that they might not be as physcially fit might be their downfall later on in the race.

The single mothers: Did like that they pushed their way through the Great Wall challenge.

Tom and Terry: Thought it was a poor choice to do Leisyre but it didn't hurt them in the end.

Edwin and Goodwin (the hot Asian brothers): Aside from being hot, yes I have a crush on them, I think they are a fun team, I like that they had water guns but it was too bad that it was taken away from them at the airport (but I understand why). I think they have to be careful not to take things for granted and they might go far.

The Cheerleaders: I thought it would be a mistake to chose Leisure but they seemed to have performed it well.

Rob and Kimberly: There always have to be one team, usually a couple that always bickers and Rob and Kimberly are AR10's. Their constant bickering could be their downfall.

The Miss Americas: Performed well and looks like romance in the air with the models.

Peter and Sarah (woman with prosthetic leg): Too competitve and a bit cocky on Peter's side and a bit bossy.

Duke and Lauren (father/daughter): They are a strong team. They seem to work well together but can butt heads at times (but who doesn't with a parental unit). Love the fact that one of the teams thought they were either siblings or dating.

The models: I do love their backstory on how they overcame drug addiction but I have never really liked the "acting/model" teams, can't say why but they look strong too.

Well until next week....which as always looks good. And please post your own comments so we can have a good ARR going. Cheers!!!!!
