Enough with the horror movies already

Another Friday the 13th is upon us and only after a month from our last one and I am honestly tired of all of the horror/suspense/thriller movies that keep on coming it seems every week.

Last month it was Friday the 13th (coincidentally enough) and My Bloody Valentine 3D. Tomorrow we get Last House on the Left and coming soon The Haunting in Connecticut, Drag me to Hell and I am assuming Babysitter Wanted (I am judging this by the poster).

Sure movies like Scream and the first Saw movie helped revitalize the gory horror genre but over the past say 10 years, a whole bunch of them have come out and not a lot have done well at the box office and now I hear there is going to be a Saw VI and that disgusts me. I think they really should stop making Saw movies because there are no longer box office hits and what story can come out of these. I think the Saw franchise is in danger of being like the Land Before Time series that when I worked at Rogers Video about 10 years ago, they were already at part 14.

Now I am not a fan of the horror genre, never been ever since I saw Jaws II as a child but I just think there are too many of them that come out that pretty much tell the same story of a psycho or group of psychos terrorizing/killing pretty young things in a remote area. Enough is enough.

I mean I excpect a horror movie to come out at Halloween or on a Friday the 13 or a day like 666 (June 6, 2006) as the case was with The Omen remake but not let's say Good Friday or Rememberance Day.

I am just ranting because I saw a commercial for Last House on the Left during George Clooney's ER appearance and it just got me going.
