Amazing Race 10 -December 3, 2006

Well folks we are in the homestretch and next Sunday is the season finale and who expected the final three to include the Bama's. I mean it was expected to have the models and the couple in most need of therapy in there but the Blondes should have been there. It was obvious that they were eliminated when everyone was bunched together to get to the pit stop.

I really think it was unfair how everyone wanted to gang up on them to get them out but I understand why they wanted them out because they were a very strong team. I really think it sucks that they are not racing for the million; they really deserve too. Dustin and Kandice are the strongest all-female team I have ever seen in the Amazing Race and I hope they get to be in the All-star edition that will be rumoured to be the next race.

Anyways, the episode the was interesting. The road block was awesome and I totally would have done it but the way it looked, I thought I would have to cook and eat a camel head - that I don't think I could do. In the end, it was just grinding camel meat to make sausages. It looked good and all the teams said it smelled and tasted good.

Then it was off to Barcelona, a very pretty city and the pit stop looked gorgeous. It looked like the Blondes really were going to come in first but the equalizer was the airport then the maze not opening up until the morning. Then most of the teams got lost in the maze then getting out. Except for Bama who calmly found there way out and I am glad that the Blondes praised Bama for being calm as being a smart way to play. But I wish Karlyn would stop being such a sourpuss, she always looks so pissed off in the team confessionals, in the car, during road blocks and detours. I mean I am glad that they are the first all-female team in the final but Karyln could be their downfall. But more on that later.

As for the detours, I wouldn't do a needle in a haystack choice so I was surprised that Rob and Kimberly and the Bama's chose that one but it was hilarious to see Kim get pummelled by the tomatoes and Rob throwing it at the locals, it was like a snowball fight. I wish Karlyn would have thrown some to let off some frustration.

But I don't know which one I would have chose. I am fairly short so having to carry a giant would have been daunting. But I would have been the smarter task as long as you knew where to go in terms of the square.

So now my thoughts on the final three:

Tyler and James: A strong team and they will probably will win since all-male teams that are young and physical (sorry Ken and Gerard from AR3 -the only other all-male team in a final not to win) usually win. Their downfall could be that they have poor navigational skills and sometimes don't think before heading off to a route marker or doing a task. But, I think they are also a bit arrogant in thinking that they will because Bama is in the final three and they are not as physical as them. Which brings me to:

Lyn and Karlyn: Yes, they are not physical and that could be their downfall but since leaving the six pack, they've come in 2nd place. They are smart and calmer but Karlyn could be their downfall with her negativity. I mean I want an all-female team to win but does it have to be them. I really wanted Kandice and Dustin. If anything, I want Lyn to win. She is a saint and patient to put up with Karlyn. I think this is the first time that I want one person in a team and not the other since Flo and Zach from AR3 -we all remember them don't we!

Rob and Kimberly: My brother said last night that Kim looked like the Wicked Witch of the East (aka Elphaba - if you've seen or read Wicked then you'll know what I mean) and I agree. I really don't want them to win. Their arguing gets on my nerves and it really bothers me that he calls Kim, the woman he wants to marry, "dude" and Rob's beard is crazy annoying. The way they behave in stressful situations will be their downfall and their poor navigational skills and poor communication skills might prevent them from winning the million.

My prediction on who will win: Tyler and James
Who I want to win: The Blondes. Just kidding: Lyn (and I guess Karlyn)

Looking forward to next week.

Amazing Race 10 -November 26, 2006

An anti-climatic start to the show. Sometimes it doesn't pay to have locals help as in the case of the blondes. The Bama girls really studied that map well and got to the antiques shop fairly quickly and it did annoy me that the rest of the teams underestimated them.

But what I don't understand is that if you want the Blondes gone then why didn't the models and Rob and Kim yield them, that made way more sense to do. I understand why the Blondes yielded Bama so that they can get some distance from the last place team.

As for that Roadblock - I would like to be a Gladiator please!!!! That looked like so much fun. I would have had a blast doing that.

Again the yield did nothing and the Bama girls pulled ahead of the blondes. I really want the blondes to win. I want an all-female team to win and they are the best bet. No offence to Bama but they are not as strong as the blondes but the blondes made many directional mistakes on this leg of the race. But I am glad that it was a non-elimination. I know that they can come in first next week. They are a strong team and again I really want them to win.

I would have chosen the olives for the detour as the pots would have been hard to do. I am not very artistic so it would have been a disaster.

Only two more weeks until we crown the winner of Amazing Race 10 then it is on to the All-Star edition. I really don't care who is part of it as long as the Bowling Moms are there because they never got a fair shake and with the rule changes it makes the game more fair for them and it was because of what happened to them in Amazing Race 5 is why all the rule changes happened.

Anyways, here's hoping that the Blondes come in first next week.

Cheers

Amazing Race 10 -November 19, 2006

I thought it was funny that people wanted tickets to Cherylnoble and the ticket person was so confused but all the teams figured it was Kiev.

The roadblock was cool, it looked like so much fun but I think the whole line about who wants to take command or something like that would have suited by brother so he would have done that road block.

Again the Chos waited, time to wake up and smell the coffee this is a race not a vacation. I am sick of them waiting all the time. I am agree with Karlyn, the Chos stop too much and I know they want to be sure but still. The moms needed to break away.

The detour is difficult choice. Finding the music then the piano player could be a needle in a haystack type of task and writing the music can be difficult but since my brother and I are both writers I guess make the music would be a better choice to go for even though I might not be able to performance due to stage fright. After seeing the teams perform I still don't think I could do it, I would die of embarrassment.

Anyways, I am glad the Chos are gone. As cute as they are, they were way too annoying with them wanting to run the race with integrity and wanting to keep friendships, its a bloody race and you really have to do everything that it takes to win and the friends you make on the race will understand why you have to break an alliance. The Chos were really annoying me and am so glad that they are gone.

Now I am cheering for the Blondes!!!!! Go Dustin and Kandice!!!!

Amazing Race 10 -November 12, 2006

I could tell that this episode was going to be a good one. Now, I didn't watch it when it was on here at 8PM ET as I decided to watch instead a BBC period drama as it was the only time that show was going to be on, so I decided to time shift it and watch the western feed at 11pm. But when my brother called around 8:44pm I knew it had to be about the race but I had to tell him that I wasn't watching it but will at 11pm.

Anyways,

The messages from home were a bit lame -sorry if I sound a bit heartless but really no one got that emotional about it except for Bama. As for the taxis, I would have waited in the queue like the Chos or asked like Rob and Kimberly if it was ok to take the cab before anyone else instead of jump the queue like Bama. Interesting to see how karma will bite them in the ass or reward the Chos for being nice.

The detour: Swamp this or that?

I wouldn't have chosen the cross-country skiing one because I twisted my ankle while cross-country skiing so the image of me doing it again remain so I would never have picked that one plus it didn't make sense as you wasted time in taking them on and off to jump over the obstacles. I would have done the other one and carried my brother!!!!!! And I agree with the blondes, I would have changed on the train and not wasted time changing at the detour, sure you don't want to get the cab dirty but it is a race.

So my brother called me about Rob and Kimberly driving in circles? Not an overwhelmingly interesting twist. I expected something else.

As for the roadblock, I probably woudn't do this one because it is not that I am claustrophobic but I fear that the air in the mine plus the uphill ride/walk with the bike and limestone would trigger an asthma attack, something I rather not experience on the race and national TV.

And how did I know that this was a double-leg. There was one coming and here we are. But that was cool rappelling face first!!! And you know what I was surprised with that Nokia didn't do some sort of product placement since Nokia is headquartered in this country.

So it looks like next week that the Chos have woken up and smelt the coffee about their "alliance" with Bama. Hopefully, they will race hard and actually win this thing.

Cheers.

Amazing Race 10 -November 5, 2006

Last week I had technical difficulties posting my blog but briefly I think the Chos have to stop thinking about keeping their alliance in tact. This is a race and not Survivor.

Ok, the intersection is an interesting twist. I like it

The Fast Forward again after a non-elimination but at least this time David and Mary can't use it so they will have the 30 minute penalty no matter what. Eating cow lips doesn't seem so bad, I mean it is beef and I like beef but when Kim said it still had the hair and teeth on it, then maybe not so much.

It was a no brainer the Chos would end up working with the Beauty Queens as no one else didn't want to work with them and I would have chosen Long Sleep as it seemed the easiest and the Chos and the Beauty Queens rocked that task. I never like the idea of doing an intricate task and the other detour option seemed that way.

After the Chos completed the detour, I was surprised that they didn't wait for Alabama and Kentucky but I am glad that they didn't

And the road block was relatively simple and I don't teams yelling who has this stamp was the way to do it, you had to visit each stall and look for the right stamp, that was the only way to quickly do it instead of going up and down hoping that someone will them they have the stamp that they desire.

I love it that the Fast Forward teams think they are golden when they were being overlapped by some of the teams. I think this is the first time in a while that someone who has won the fast forward didn't come in first.

And what is up with the cabs in Madgascar, do all them always run low on gas!!!!

Too bad that David and Mary were eliminated, they were entertaining but you knew that they were goners. I mean there was no way that they could have gone for the fast forward with Bama, as Mary suggested, because they wouldn't have been eligible even though Bama didn't use their fast forward yet.

Anyways, still glad the Chos are in it but now they really need to break free from the alliance knowing that the single moms are independent minded.

Until next week!!

Amazing Race 10 -October 22, 2006

The question on everyone's minds tonight is can David and Mary come in first and avoid the 30 minute penalty? But more on that later.

I am annoyed with the Cho brothers. I admire them that they want to play the game with integrity but this isn't Survivor. This is a bloody race and you really need to think of yourself first. They either should have gone for the Fast Forward instead of letting David and Mary get it or stay up there and wait to do the road block. If I was in last place, I would have gone for the Fast Forward, it actually looked pretty exciting to do.

As for the roadblock I would do it. I am not afraid of heights and I am glad to see Kimberly do a road block, since she pretty much has to do and Mary would have done it if they didn't go for the fast forward. Which by the way, it was very convenient for the Fast Forward to be on a leg where Mary and David has to come in first. So of course they win it and come in first.

The detour was interesting and I totally would have done automatic because it was something different and looked kinda of cool. But it looked to hard to get to and the whole manual thing wasn't too bad and it did look faster as trying to attach the jockey to the camel could be difficult especially since the camel for the single moms was giving them attitude.

I am glad that the Cbo brothers came in 5th and I am also glad that Peter and Sarah got eliminated. Big surprise that they are not going to be dating anymore, not!!!! He was too annoying and in a sense she played the victim too much in her confessionals with her woes is me that I have a sucky unsupportive to partner.

Until next week!!!

Amazing Race 10 -October 15, 2006

How did I know that when the Cho brothers played that fake cellphone trick that it was sorta going backfire on them. I knew that Peter would find someone with a cellphone to book reservations too. But, in the end the Cho brothers got a better flight than most teams that is until Peter and Sarah and the beauty queens nabbed an earlier morning flight. I have to say Peter is annoying me in the way he talks about people behind their backs (didn't enjoy his mocking for David and Mary) and his whole sneaky way of finding information, it was so smarmy.

And I thought it was very annoying the way Peter was chewing on that cookie - chew with your mouth close man!!!! Anyways, as for the Detour: Wild Things or Wild Rice, it was obvious what the choice would be , Wild Things -yes it was scary but the crocodiles/alligator was cute with the rubber band around his snout and it seemed easier with the wranglers pretty much doing the hard part - wrestling the beast to ground for us. I don't know why people would choose Wild Rice, it took way too long.

As for the Roadblock, I guess I would have to do it because I am the only one on our team that knows how to drive a stick but that traffic in India makes me nervous. I mean I learned how to drive stick for a family trip to France but I bailed out of doing any driving because European traffic freaked me out but it looked like the driving instructor helped out and was pretty lenient with mistakes made.

Now for the interesting twist, while in past races in a non-elimination where all your money and possessions were taken away never hindered teams, I like this new twist of being marked for elimination. It makes the team have to come in first or they will get a 30 minute penalty and still get eliminated. Will see if Dave and Mary can do it but I think Dave has done all the roadblocks and if that rule still exists where only each team member can perform 6 roadblocks each then Mary has to do the rest of them if they are not eliminated next week. Same goes for Peter and Sarah, Peter has been doing most of them so far so she has to start doing some.

Anyways, until next week

Grey's Anatomy -October 12th, 2006

Morphine Meredith

Even with Meredith all drugged-up and funny on morphine, she was still slightly annoying. I mean do I really care that she has to choose between to unbelieveably hot men that are also nice. I don't but I was sad that she let Finn go but we all knew she would choose Derek, I mean Chris O'Donnell was still a guest star while Patrick Dempsey a star so we knew that would happen. Whether McDreamy is Meredith's one, that remains to be seen but at least she will give it a try. I did find it funny some of the things Meredith was saying while on drugs especially when all her boyfriends (including George) were in the room and her somewhat heartfelt but drugged-up converstation with Addison.

As for poor George, I understand his friends are important to him but so should Callie, if she is his girlfriend. I like that girl and for him to string her a long is not cool in my book. And now she hooked up with McSteamy for (which I hope) is a one-night stand is not good. I want George to wake-up and smell the coffee and realizes he loves Callie. But the season is young so there is hope ye for my favourite couple of the show.

And poor (well not really poor) Izzy -did you see the size of that cheque!!!! I wonder if she will keep it. If it were me, I would not want to because I would feel that I was benefitting from the death of someone I love. But I really never understood Izzy's actions over Denny last season, I thought it very irrationally and she wasn't behaving like Denny's doctor. But that phone message from Denny to his parents was nice and enjoyed that it was his voice ending the episode and not Meredith's

Early I mentioned how Derek and Finn were nice men, McSteamy on the other hand was not. He did not treat his patients or colleagues with respect. But, we will see how his character develops. It doesn't hurt that he sure is nice to look at.

It almost seems splitsville for Burke and Yang, I somehow don't see how these two work as a couple. They are such polar opposites.

Anyways, looks like Izzy is back to work next week.

Amazing Race 10 -October 8, 2006

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!!

I thought it was funny that Kandice and Dustin, who proclaim that they are auditory, thought that the cricket noise was their clue. I laughed out loud. It was an interesting way to get a clue and I thought it was smart of some teams to get their cabbie to listen to the clue but it was important that the cabbie understood English.

So the teams eventually made it to their destination and the faced the road block. This one is all my brother's. He has upper arm strength (after all the gym visits he's been doing in the past) so I would have slowed our team down.

I was busy cooking my turkey dinner so I didn't really get a chance to see how the teams didn't but it seemed that none really had a problem.

But most teams seemed to have the problem when it comes to rowing to do the detour: over or under. Again I was busy cooking so I didn't get a chance to see which looked like the lesser of two evils but the rowing seemed to be a major challenge for all teams because of the wind. But it seemed that once you found the basket line in under that seemed to be the better choice.

Ok how stupid that the beauty queens think they have to row to the pit stop. If they think they are trying to dispell the myth that blondes aren't stupid, they are really not doing a good job.

And I can't believe, either Tom or Terry actually pulled the boat to the junk ship!!!! And after all that, they still got eliminated. I had not feeling towards this team so either way I am ok that they are good but too bad after all that effort they were booted. But to be honest, I was glad the beauty queens didn't get eliminated, sure they are a bit cutthroat (like cutting in line or taking the single moms boat) and they are not that smart but I would like to see an all-female team win. It is about time that happens, so as long as they are still in and the single moms, I am all for it. But of course I still want the Cho bros to win too.

Enjoy your turkey everyone and see ya next week.

Dancing with the Stars -October 4th, 2006

Jerry Springer lives to shake his sexy hips

I am know I've been pretty bad about not consistently posting but I have been busy. But I am really going to make an effort to keep up with my posts.

Now I was disappointed to see Harry Hamlin go last week and really felt bad for his partner Ashley. She is such a sweetheart and felt bad for her that she was saddle with Master P last season.

Anyways, on this week's episode. I am not thrilled with the song choices with some of the dances. Totally couldn't even watch or listen to Sara's Paso Doble because a) they used the Phantom of the Opera, which didn't suit the dance and was crappily sung and b) the dance was overall crappy.

Then Bon Jovi for Vivica's dance. yes when I think of the Paso Doble, Bon Jovi immediately comes to mind!!! Her dance was ok but wasn't that thrilled with it.

Emmitt's was decent but Mario's Paso was smokin' hot. So good and deserved the scores, glad he stayed within the rules this time.

As for the waltzes, I thought Willa's was jerky but not according to the judges, but what do I know, I can't even dance. Joey's waltz was good but really enjoyed Jerry's waltz thought it was sweet and when he hugged his daughter at the end, I got teary-eyed.

And I find Samantha Harris' interview style to be a bit annoying. I don't know, she seems to ask stupid questions or no d'uh questions. Alas, I know that this is Dancing With the Stars and not 60 Minutes but still.

Too bad about Vivica and Nick. She was good and took her departure well.

Next is the Samba or the fruity rumba.

The Amazing Race 10 -October 1st, 2006

Paying respect to Vietnam

You will have to pardon this week's post. I am recovering from a massive allergy attack yesterday that drained me of energy so this post might be short and no peppy.
Zero dollars for the leg of the race and you cannot beg or sell anything. Interesting as some teams didn't seem that good with saving their money.

Now I am all for Duke and Lauren wanting to use a local to help them but picking them up at the airport let alone their flight to help isn't good. They have got have known that she wanted to be dropped of first, she doesn't care that you are on a race (I am told you can't tell people you are on the Amazing Race to get help).

The road block? Well I thought I would be the one doing it since, my brother doesn't like that kind of situation and crowds but seeing how the women were fawning over the guys, I think he would have been better suited than me.

I appreciate Dave's sentiments about Vietnam. I that's it great what he said about experiencing Vietnam differently than his father but still his head should be in the race.
The detour: Fuel or Fowl?

Fuel. It looked easier to do. And Yeah my hot Korean brothers are number one!!!!!
I knew once Phil said you can't ride a motorbike in Vietnam and that you saw Tom and Terry do that you knew they would be penalized. So fromk 2 to 8. That really sucks for them but goes to show you that you need to read your clues carefully.

And too bad for Duke and Lauren. Hopefully, Duke can be understanding of Lauren and not be disappointed in her she because she is gay but I can't say I will miss them. Too many mistakes and they were not careful with their money.
Until next week!

The Amazing Race 10 - September 24th, 2006

Brokeback Mountain

I am reminded of a scene in AR7 when Rob and Amber didn't stop when the brothers truck flipped over. The single moms did the same thing. I understand that it is a competition but I think they could have stopped and given them their jack! But as they said it is a competition but still human compassion would have been nice.

And I am getting a little tired over Sarah using her prosthetic leg to gain sympathy, it is like Charla in AR5 using her short stature to gain sympathy and none of the teams liked it then.
Anyways, some of the horses seem to have a mind of their own and that one Mongolian animal that Peter and Sarah had was crazy.

The Detour: Tear it down or Fill it Up?
Me? I would have chosen fill it up. I think that I and my brother might be able to control an animal. I think I would find Tear it down to be frustrating if I couldn't get it right but I think that my brother might do this one because he is very detailed oriented but who knows, it is a toss up but my gut told me to fill it up.

Bad luck with the cars, especially with my Korean brothers but thankfully they got they car started but it dropped them from 4th to 8th.

The Road Block: Me me me me

I wanna do this one. I love archery, I did it for my birthday a few years ago and I did it when I was in Nottingham so I would have been the natural choice for it. Would I have gotten the target the first try no, but it would have been cool trying.

I am getting tired for the arguing team so I want Rob and Kimberly to go. But too bad about the cheerleaders, I wouldn't mind an all-female team to win it alll so now it is down to the Beauty queens and the single moms.Until next week

Veronica Mars: October 3rd, 2006

New network, new look

I love Veronica Mars, so I am glad that it survived the CW cut. But I hate the new beginning. It sucks - but I guess I'll get used to it.

Loved that this was the second frakin Battlestar Galactica reference in a row (the first appearing on the Gilmore Girls, an hour earlier).

So they are continuing on the serial campus rapist mystery they introduced from last season and they are still doing the mystery per episode and tonight's is who stole Wallace's new roomate's stuff.

Here's a mystery that I would like to get solved is why didn't Veronica go to Stanford? She was accepted and it was assumed she was going to get the Kane Scholarship, so what happened that she has to go to Hearst? Hopefully, that gets resolved soon.

And who doesn't love Mac. I've enjoyed Tina Majorino's performance of Mac ever since I saw her in season one and love Mac's and Veronica' s dynamic partnership. I know that they may not last but there is something about Logan and Veronica being together that I like. She makes him good and that I can dig.

Ok and if you watch this show and the Gilmore Girls on the CW, what is with the Aerie whatever, I totally find that segment annoying. I don't really want to hear a whole bunch of teenage girls opinion about these shows.

Anyways, so happy that Veronica Mars is back.

Ugly Betty

September 28th, 2006: The Pilot

So when I first heard of this show I was totally unsure if I would like it, then I saw the trailer for it and thought it looked awesome and I love America Ferrera but aside from the obvious, I wouldn't have known it was the same girl from Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

But I knew I would have a hard time with a show whose premise is built around making fun of her. I've been made fun of in a similar fashion so I can relate but I don't think I could ever take the high road that she has.

I thought the show was good and you definitely fall in love with Betty and root for her. I did love her Scottish friend, played by Ashley Jensen, who was in a Brit Com that I watched called May to December. But I felt it was a bit cliche that the only friend Betty would make at Mode Magazine would be someone who wasn't a "model-type" and it was obvious when Betty left her idea behind that Christine (I think that's her name) would put it on Daniel's desk.

Overall the show was predictable and you could see that the photographer was in cahoots with Vanessa Williams and that the only guy to ever be interested in our Betty was someone like Walter.

I think it would have been more intersting if that front desk office person was her friend too but one thing I don't want to see is her and Daniel getting together because Daniel falls in love with her inner beauty, which Betty has plenty of.

America Ferrara sold this show and it gives a demented look at what magazine publishing is so I will keep on watching but if the taunts to Betty get too much for me, I might have to tune out.

Gilmore Girls

October 3rd, 2006: The land of Hello Kitty

So I had to include that little quip from Lorelai because I love Hello Kitty and totally agreed with her comment about Breakfast at Tiffany's. And the side-by-side posters of Chairman Mao and Sandra Oh, too funny.

And that was about the funniest thing in this episode. Again the new writers are trying too hard to regain the witty dialogue of the Palladinos and two episodes in a row without Emily and Richard Gilmore, not good.

The whole Lane thing was funny and loved how she said her mother was right about sex but let's hope she does try again and this time in a bed. But I knew that when Lane wasn't well that she was pregnant. The dialogue of horrible celebrity baby names was cute.

And I thought Luke was the baby brother of Liz and not the older one.

I suppose I can understand Rory's disappoint in Lorelai over the whole Christopher situation but I do hope that Luke and Lorelai find their way back to each other.

September 26th, 2006: Girls have lost gift of gab

Has the Gilmore Girls jumped the shark? I don't know. I have to see a few more shows without the Palladinos to make the judgement but you can tell the new show runners are trying their best to mimic the Palladinos style and dialogue.

I did feel that some of the rapid fire dialogue was a bit forced and that some of the situations were a little out there even for Stars Hollow but I still enjoyed the episode. Did love it when Kirk drove into Luke's but since when did Taylor become Town Selectman again, I thought that was Jackson's job -did I miss something.

Yes and Lorelai was quite blunt when she told Luke that she slept with Christopher but I am glad that she did instead of them getting back together and have him find out later in the season. I honestly was never really sold on Luke and Lorelai as a couple but somehow I couldn't help rooting for them to be together. If this is the GGs last season, I hope they get back together.

As for Rory's gift from Logan. Confused the heck out of me, even after it was explained. I don't quite get what it means that Logan wants her to visit at Christmas. I mean what's stopping her from just going in the summer anyways.

Next week, sorta of looks good so we will see if I will be sticking with GG has I have had over the last 6 seasons.

Cheers

Survivor: Cook Islands

September 28, 2006: The tribes merge

So the tribes merge and my Puka tribe got split up. So which team am I going to root for now? Since Yul is hot and my age and I like Becky, I am going for their tribe. It was a close vote and I was worried that Becky was going to go home but I thought it would have been interesting to see if Yul would keep his promise and give Becky the immunity idol should she have been in danger.

I thought it was interesting that they brought up Billy's comments to Candice and not suprisingly she said that she said no such thing to him and it wasn't love at first sight for her, he just mis-interepreted what she said to him.

One thing that did bother me about this episode was the repeating of the challenge. I mean it was the exact same one that was on Palau but for some reason it was better there than here. Come on Survivor, you can some up with original challenges since this isn't an All-Star version where it is more likely you would see old challenges re-visited.

If Aitu loses again, I would get rid of Flicka, she is so wishy-washy that she has to go. We've seen what happens to those that are indecisive in the game, hello Christy and Dolly!!! Over at the other tribe, anyone can go as long as it isn't Brad or Jenny. It seems interesting that so far only people from the visible minority groups have left the game.

And Parvati, you are a horrible flirt, it's so obvious what you are doing that it's almost funny. I think you need to go for being a bad flirt.

Until next week.

September 21, 2006: Throwing a challenges is bad

Second episode in and I've already fallen into the trap that the Survivor producers wanted us to fall into: cheering for your ethnic team.

When I watched the first episode last week, I found myself cheering for Puka, the Asian tribe. I knew that going in I would. One of my complaints about television has always been that visible minority doesn't necessarily only mean African American. So when Survivor announced that they were segregating along racial lines, at first I thought it was controversial because I thought it was caucasion vs the visible minorities but when I saw that wasn't the case, I thought that was good. I think this is the most diverse cast of any television show out there.

I mean sure there are some people on Puka that annoy me like Cao Boi but in his defence I think he does bring some wisdom to his tribe especially he can heal people, a huge asset. Can you imagine the other tribes who have headaches and no Cao Boi could they be able to concentrate on challenges? Plus the two other guys on Puka are pretty hot and the girls are cute.

As for Arti throwing that challenge. Stupid. I think it was so obvious that everyone knew what they were doing. Poor Billy, I mean he had to go, it was so obvious by the editing but there could've been a better way to oust him.

And over on Exile Island, how thrilled am I that Yul found the idol!!!! If he uses it smartly, as did Terry from last season, and Puka continues on being a strong tribe, I think he can go far.

Anyways, until next week.

Grey's Anatomy

September 28, 2006: Muffins and underpants

There is one thing that Izzy Stevens and I have in common, aside from the fact that we are both ridicously hot, is that we are both aweome bakers but I don't necessarily bake when I am depressed but I think that is a better way to channel your energy than eating muffins, like our Addison.

And why did I now know that McSteamy would be coming out of Addison's bathroom? But McDreamy shouldn't care since he said his marriage is over and is dating Meredith, who wants to date both him and Finn, the adorable Chris O'Donnell. If it were me I would choose Finn over McDreamy. It's almost like who should Felicity choose: Ben or Noel? For me personally, I would want Noel for myself but Ben for Felicity. In this case, I don't really care who Meredith picks as it seems obvious it would be Derek since Chris O'Donnell isn't a full-time cast member.

Now onto my hands-down favourite character on Grey's and that is Callie. I love her, I think she rocks and dug her whole panty/jealousy thing with George. They are such a great couple and love Meredith's advice to George, I don't remember the exact quote but I am in agreement with it.

And a word of advice to ABC: Stop extending Grey's to beyond 10pm, I thought I gave my VCR plenty of time by taping one minute past but that still wasn't enough.

Looking forward to next week

September 21. 2006: After a long summer.....

Hey folks, I am going to start off this blog with a little rant on how I need to get a PVR. VCRs are so passe yet I still use one because PVRs are too expensive. The reason why I needed to say this is because last night I set-up my VCR to tape the third season premiere of Grey's Anatomy, my tape cut out somewhere between the last 10 minutes and the last five minutes. The only reason I can't narrow it down is because I managed to notice a tape sticking out of my VCR and I am immediately stuck in another. Anyways, I've seen most of the episode. I think where the tape got cut off is when it broke for commercials at the point where Miranda was trying to conform the man who lost his wife to the plague and the moment I got when I popped in the new tape was when Callie came rushing to George after being released from quarantine.

I actually wouldn't have cared about the whole tape thing because I would have timed shifted the episode on CTV but I noticed that it was the second episode of the season they were showing and not seeing the first I didn't watch it.

Ok now onto the episode. It was good, of course did we expect a resolution to Meredith's whole McDreamy and McVet dilema, of course not, don't be silly. They are going to drag this out as long as Chris O'Donnell is on the show. My personal pick, hard to say, they are both so darn hot. But I guess McVet because he isn't married.

And who knew that Koreans could be Jewish too! That Sandra Oh, she's great. Loved her line when Meredith told her that she slept with McDreamy at the prom and said something along the lines of McGuilt.

The little flashbacks were good and you know I am not giving too much space to Izzy, while I feel bad for her that she lost Denny, I just couldn't stand her during the whole thing because she wasn't be rational and she did so many wrongs to get what she wanted but still ended up broken-hearted.

Also, I felt bad for the husband who lost his wife to the plague, there were some great scenes for Chandra Wilson. And I think the Chief should either retire or cut back his hours, I mean he had an affair, which is wife secretly knew about and she sacrified her life waiting and forgiving this man and what does he do when she requests him to retire, nothing!!! He loses a good woman and we as viewers will lose Lorretta Devine.

Because I love George and Callie together, I loved the scene when he and Derek were quarantined and how George hopes he doesn't die before he can tell Callie he loves her. And Derek said does he, he said he loves her soonish. McDreamy advised that he should tell her regardless if it is soonish.

So when Callie rushed over after the quarantine was over and professed her love all over again and Derek gave that look to George to tell her. I was a little miffed that George didn't but I guess all in good time considering this is episode one of season 3.

Dancing with the Stars

September 20th, 2006: Farewell Miss USA

So I am a little late with this but I wanted to see the results show before I commented. When this show premiered last summer, I resisted watching it. I pretty much reserved my reality TV quotient to The Amazing Race and Survivor. The Apprentice was on the list but then it become boring and the same old same old. But, I digress. With Dancing, I found myself intrigued with well the dancing. One of my favourite movies is Strictly Ballroom so it is no wonder why I like this show.

When the second season came, I pretty much avoided it too but not Season 3. I can't deny it anymore, I like Dancing with the Stars.

There now that's over with. let's get to this week's show. I am not a dancer and probably never will be since I am the most uncoordinated person that I know. So I can't really judge what was good or not. What I can say is that Shanna's and Sara's mambo's were painfully slow. So I am not sad to see Shanna go home last night. Vivica's was good but a little slow. That Monique girl and Willa were smokin' fast and their mambo's were hot, especially Monique's but I find it slightly creepy that as a teen she had great chemistry with her much older partner.

I personally didn't see anything wrong with Mario's quick step but i guess there was something wrong to it. And at first I didn't like Joey's quick step but upon further review, it was good. As for who I am pulling for, I like Harry and Ashley only because I think Ashley deserves to go far after the whole Master P fiasco I saw briefly last season. The other team I am rooting for is Emmitt and Cheryl.

Before I forgot, I think fans should send Jerry Springer home. I think he's ok but not great and he seems to be begging fans to kick him off.

And that Tucker Carlson skit last night, thought it was great but it was probaly the journalist in me that enjoyed it. I think they should do that everyweek.

Until next week!!! Cheers!

How I Met your Mother

September 25th, 2006: Lily's summer in San Fran

So Lily is back in NYC!!! Yeah, I did miss her and I really thought in the end that Marshall and Lily would get back together but considering this is the second episode of the season I knew they would drag out there separation for awhile. But I did love when Lily walked into the bar and threw the martini in Barney's face and said "You gave my twin sister chlymedia"

And I thought Barney was being a real jerk this episode to Marshall that I really wanted to choke him like Marshall did after Barney pocketed the girl's phone number. But cool magic tricks.

I loved the still drunk Robin the morning after and loved the Canadian reference to her again but it just didn't jive with her gun craziness last week. Oh well.

Until next week.

September 18th, 2006: The Worst summer

The one new comedy show that I watched last season is back for its sophmore season. Nice nod at the beginning with kids feeling like the Dad has been telling the story for a year!!!!

So the season opener picked up right were the finale left with Robin and Ted together as a couple and as the summer progressed more ickily so (well at least to Barney) to me it was cute.

And Marshall in a depression over Lily. The ID theft twist was cool.

Line of the night as always goes to Barney and I think it went something like this "Our mind can only hold a certain number of boob images, Bpegs!" LOL.

On another note, I thought Robin was Canadian since she didn't celebrate the US Thanksgiving, so was surprised that she was a gun enthusiast. But I guess, it really doesn't matter what nationality you are. But did like the look of glee on both her and Marshall's faces at the target range.

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

October 1st, 2006: Focus groups: The Good, Bad and the ugly

So I didn't do a post of last week's episode. My bad. Anyways, here is my take on this week's show. I still enjoy the snappy dialogue and love the behind-the-scenes look at a sketch show. I like that guy's impression of Tom Cruise/Ben Stiller/Nicholas Cage spot on as was Harry's Holly Hunter. Freaky.

While, I didn't really laugh at any of the supposed sketches, at least what we see of them, but I don't that is the point. It is the development of the sketches is what interests me.

As for the FG. It was good for Gina as she performed her sketch despite some lack of faith in herself and it helped Matt take risks in his writing. The Bad, Gina worrying about how no one likes her because the sketch bomb and the Ugly when Matt realized that Danny set him up to do better by posing the Anti-American question in the FG.

I don't know if I will continue with this Pop watch. If there is an episode that screams to write something about, I will.

Cheers,

September 17th, 2006: Pilot

If you are lucky to live in Canada, then you get to see this new show from Aaron Sorkin, he of The West Wing and Sports Night, a day earlier than our neighbours to the South.

Now I've never really seen a full episode of The West Wing because I am not very politically inclined but I did enyo Sorkin's script to the American President. Then again, I didn't like the movie for its political theme but more for the love story.

Anyways, this new show Studio 60, about behind-the-scenes look at a Saturday Night Live typse show intrigued me because not only do I love things all entertainment but it also starred good ol' Canadian boy Matthew Perry. I wanted to see this show that lured Mr. Perry back to TV after the long-run of Friends.

After watching the pilot, the dialogue is very sharp and heard that it's similar to the kind of dialogue that was on The West Wing. I really enjoyed the behind-the-scenes stuff and the Network type meltdown of Judd Hirsh. And how cannot I not forget the dig to my hometown of Vancouver. "Vancouver doesn't even look like Vancouver" said Danny (Bradley Whitford)

Matthew Perry was also good. Definitely shedding Chandler Bing and showing none of his nuances that make me view his Matt character not as Chandler, which has befelled many of Friends stars in other roles.

Has this show got me hooked? Not yet, I'll watch next week to see if I want to keep tuning in.

The Amazing Race 10 -September 17th, 2006

A new season with new surprises

Another season of the Amazing Race has begun and I am so excited. It is my favourite TV show on right now and I love it so much. And I was so stoked to see the Race start in Seattle, a city so close to my hometown of Richmond, BC. AND the fact that the first destination is Beijing, China (my motherland -unlike the HOT looking Korean brothers -I lol when I heard that comment). I like the fact, like Survivor, this is a very diverse race this season.

Usually when I do my Amazing Race Rant with some friends and family, I always view it as what would my partner (which would be my younger brother) and I would do.

So the roadblock. In past seasons, my brother and I agreed that I would always do the eating challenges because a) I like to eat and b) the fact that I've been on a diet so long that I would be starving. Anyways, eating fish eyes, yes not uncommon in my culture and my father eats them all the tims. I haven't personally done it but if he can do it so can I, plus not many of the teams looked disgusted at the prospect of eating them unlike the grasshoppers in AR 9 that BJ and Tyler had to eat to get the fast forward. The only problems most teams had was just using the chopsticks.

Phil said at the beginning of the race that there would be surprises in the race and the first one came tonight. When one of the teams mentioned that a person might get eliminated at the Forbidden City even though it wasn't a pit stop, I had a feeling that it was the first surprise. I think its a good thing as it creates a sense of urgency all the time and not take anything for granted. When I saw who could have been potentially have been eliminated, I didn't want any of the teams to go. So it was sad that it was friends Bilal and Sa'eed. They seemed like good guys. But at least it wasn't the hot brothers. Makes me wonder what the other surprises are in the race.

The detour: Labour or Leisure? Labour for sure. My brother knows it and I know it that I am the most uncoordinated person in the world. Plus when Phil was describing the detour and how we have to follow a pattern, I noticed right off the bat that there was a grey/black border before the clay coloured can be put in. So it pays to be an observant person!!!!

The race to the pit stop. No longer about a foot race which is an interesting twist as some of the teams who arrived at the wall didn't necesarrily mean that is how they are going to finish. Liked this fact.

Also loved how the teams attempted to speak Mandarin.

Let's breakdown the teams and its performance so far from last to first:

Bilal and Sa'eed: Getting eliminated at the mid-point of leg one is no fun at all. I think it always comes down to luck and they got a slow cab driver who also didn't know where he was going.

Vital and Arti: These two are a cute couple. It sucks that they came in last. But I did like Vital's tip on how to climb the wall better.

The coalminer and his wife (sounds like lyrics to a TV show theme song): Dave sounded like Cletis from the Simpsons. Hey that's what I thought when I heard him. I think the fact that they might not be as physcially fit might be their downfall later on in the race.

The single mothers: Did like that they pushed their way through the Great Wall challenge.

Tom and Terry: Thought it was a poor choice to do Leisyre but it didn't hurt them in the end.

Edwin and Goodwin (the hot Asian brothers): Aside from being hot, yes I have a crush on them, I think they are a fun team, I like that they had water guns but it was too bad that it was taken away from them at the airport (but I understand why). I think they have to be careful not to take things for granted and they might go far.

The Cheerleaders: I thought it would be a mistake to chose Leisure but they seemed to have performed it well.

Rob and Kimberly: There always have to be one team, usually a couple that always bickers and Rob and Kimberly are AR10's. Their constant bickering could be their downfall.

The Miss Americas: Performed well and looks like romance in the air with the models.

Peter and Sarah (woman with prosthetic leg): Too competitve and a bit cocky on Peter's side and a bit bossy.

Duke and Lauren (father/daughter): They are a strong team. They seem to work well together but can butt heads at times (but who doesn't with a parental unit). Love the fact that one of the teams thought they were either siblings or dating.

The models: I do love their backstory on how they overcame drug addiction but I have never really liked the "acting/model" teams, can't say why but they look strong too.

Well until next week....which as always looks good. And please post your own comments so we can have a good ARR going. Cheers!!!!!
